Updates

So quite a bit has happened since we last blogged.

First, baby showers...we had two: one back home and one here in Annapolis.  They were both lovely, and everyone was so generous!

Both grandmothers to be.

Both aunts to be.

One of the hostesses and my best friend.

The shower at Annapolis was a gender reveal, and we revealed through the cake.  When I cut into it, there was blue icing.  A little boy!

Yeah, I got that big...

But then, we went in for the 40 week appointment, and they sent us over to the hospital to get induced.  They started the pitocin at 7:30 PM.  My water broke at 11:40 PM.  2:06 AM, we had a baby!

Minutes after he was born.

This was the day he was born - we were both exhausted!

When he was almost 24 hours old, he was taken to the NICU.  This is him with his IV.  I felt so bad seeing him like this.

Mommy coming to visit him in the NICU.

This was after his IV was taken out, but he was still in the NICU.

Finally home!

...With a little sleep in his eye...

So now, there are five of us.  Two dogs and a little boy.

Yesterday was his two week appointment, and he's doing great.  He's a pound heavier than his birth weight, so he's packing it on nicely.  He's still getting fussy at times, but overall, each day gets a little better....and we get a little more sleep!

It's beginning to look a lot like a nursery

Where the crib is going to go.

The crib still in the box.

Just as a frame of reference...and because Matt will be the one assembling it...

Voila!  The assembled crib in its corner!

Our first major step towards making this room a nursery!

Those girls!

Matt took this video of the girls playing with Beanie's Puppy Pal.

...It makes me worry about what they'll do with the baby's toys!

Gone Cruisin' (pt 2)

After leaving Bermuda, we headed to Boston, MA, and then to Newport, RI.  That was interesting for me since Newport is where I went through Navy training, and Boston is where I visited during and immediately following training. So, it was a trip down memory lane!

Gone Cruisin' (pt 1)

Matt and I just got back from our cruise to Bermuda! It was lots of fun, and I only had a couple of bad spells, mostly just dizziness.  Very glad we did this cruise during the second trimester, versus the first!

So, after leaving Baltimore, we were at sea, then Bermuda for two days.  The first day we went snorkeling, then the second we walked around to get some souvenirs and pictures.

This is the Commissioner's House, which houses the National Museum of Bermuda!

Wet mids

The mids go through lots of training down here, and one of the trainers is loads of fun to watch.  It's basically a game to see which team can move the floatie on a wire to the opposing team's pole using a fire hose.

Here's the blue and white floatie with both hoses going.

This team just won a round, but they still got soaked! (The rest of the team is hiding so they don't get wet)

Still playing...

...and 15 push-ups for every loss.

The guys threatened to get me wet this morning, but I think they quickly realized how big of mistake that would be!

More from Kings Bay

I went with the mids to the Submarine Museum in St. Mary's today.  It's a small museum, but I still enjoyed it.  Got a few pictures too!  I'm really glad since most of the places I've been going don't allow cell phones, let alone cameras!
